Neurodiversity Coaching

TEOM offers 1-1 coaching to help neurodiverse individuals thrive. The coaching sessions are tailored to you and what you would like help with. We use materials that have been produced by other neurodiverse people to support you on your own journey.

What is coaching?

Our neurodiverse coaching supports you to set achievable goals, helps you to understand yourself and your needs, and gives you ideas and techniques to help you to achieve them. We check in along the way to help.

Our coaching is delivered 1 to 1 in the community or online. Coaching sessions are usually 60 minutes but can be adapted depending on your needs, and the number of sessions will be agreed with you.

Coaching is different to counselling, it is not a type of therapy. It is practical and educational, but many people find it helpful for their wellbeing.
At the moment, our coaching service is for adults age 18 and above.

What can coaching help with?

Coaching can help with:

  • Overwhelm – breaking up tasks
  • Navigating professional relationships
  • Understanding barriers specific to you
  • Practical problem solving
  • Techniques for dealing with recurring difficulties

Coaching can’t help with:

  • Intensive emotional support
  • Completing work on your behalf
  • Counselling or therapy
  • Diagnosis

Examples:
You keep feeling caught off guard by deadlines and tasks at work that you’ve forgotten about. You are always in crisis management mode or in trouble with your manager.

You are struggling to complete daily self care tasks because you forget or can’t bring yourself to do them. You want to be able to clean out the fridge, brush your teeth every night or have clean clothes to wear each week, but you can never seem to get on top of it and end up feeling guilty or broken.

You notice a pattern wherever you work where you start to become disliked, people don’t seem to trust you or accuse you of things that you haven’t done. You can’t understand why this is happening and feel frustrated and alone, and every interaction with your colleagues feels like a trap.

You have lost your job several times in the past because you became overwhelmed and couldn’t keep up with demands, or you didn’t fit in and struggled to communicate. You are worried that it’s going to happen all over again in your current job.

Friendships are a constant source of stress for you. You never know whether people really like you, or whether they are using you for something. You don’t know how to make new friends, and you feel lonely and unsupported.

How does it work?

Start by reaching out to us in an email.

We will arrange an initial session with you to find out about you, what you are struggling with and how you think coaching might help. We can set some initial goals, and suggest a plan for your coaching, including the number of sessions and when/where/how the sessions will take place. If we don’t think coaching is right for you, we can suggest some other options. Initial sessions, and ongoing coaching sessions are £55 per hour.

From there, we will start the coaching and will periodically check-in to make sure you are happy and getting what you want from the service.
